I’m writing this blog during an unprecedented time in our lives – the corona virus pandemic of 2020. With millions sheltering at home while we work to slow the spread of COVID-19, many have transitioned to Work From Home. Mrs. G is an essential business and remains open, however, I do have staff that can and are working from home.
It got me thinking. How many of those who are not used to working from home are going to want to invest in a comfortable office environment? Or how many are going to find that working from home will be the new normal? No one knows for sure at this time, however I am starting to think about what appliances I would ideally want in a home office that would not be too over the top, but will serve me well. I’m thinking a home office is in my future.
Traditionally, when customers come into the showroom looking for home office appliances they want a 24″ under-counter refrigerator and a countertop microwave. The refrigerator is mostly to be used for drinks so we suggest a beverage center. Ok, this works for most home offices but now working at home has taken on a new focus. For instance a zoom meeting can go on for hours. Healthy snacks are a must if you are in an office for most of the day maybe even an easy lunch to warm up in the microwave. Most beverage centers are not meant to hold food, as their temperatures don’t go below 40 degrees. So this will not be a good option. I would like to suggest the 24″ freestanding bottom freezer as an option. They are so stylish, not utilitarian like many top freezers.
My future home office will have a 24” freestanding bottom freezer, not only to hold drinks, but also healthy nibbles to access throughout the day, and a freezer for frozen healthy treats. This will also be a good solution for any over flow from the kitchen refrigerator when hunkering down, as we are doing during the stay at home orders. The demand for small freezers was so high during this pandemic that they sold out quickly and are still on national backorder as of this writing. Many of my friends who are staying home are finding it challenging to stay out of the kitchen and eating just because. I feel by having a well-stocked, healthy office refrigerator, it will deter one from venturing to the main kitchen with too many temptations. I also like that the refrigeration of the bottom freezer is at eye level, for better access. I don’t have to bend over and reach in to get what I need, which is even more difficult in heels. Yes I wear heels at home too.
