Customers always ask, “How do we do it?” How can a single store, independent appliance and TV retailer stand up against the price pressure of the national and regional chains like Lowes, Home Depot, Sears and Best Buy? How about Fergusons, P.C. Richards and HH Gregg? Oh, let’s not forget Sam’s, and Walmart. Can you believe how much competition is out there? All within a mile of my store! How has Mrs. G TV & Appliances outlasted the competition for 75 years? You read that right – 75 years! How about that! We’ve outlasted competitors like Crazy Eddie (Danny DeVito is set to direct Crazy Eddie, a movie based on the life of consumer electronics king Eddie Antar), Topps, Dees, Wiz, and American Appliance who opened right next store to Mrs. G’s. More recently, Home Depot Expo, Circuit City and Tweeters. Did I miss any??
Mrs. G has has been answering the question “How do we do it” as long as I can remember. Watch a clip of one of her famous commercials circa 1993.

I remember customers coming in the store and saying to my grandmother, “Mrs. G, how DO you do it?” My grandmother loved the attention and of course she replied, “with great customer service and low prices.” But most importantly, she loved the fact that those TV commercials made an impact and marketing dollars were well spent.
So how do we do it? How do we beat them on price? And we beat the competition on price everyday! Mrs. G’s is a member of the Appliances Dealer Cooperative (ADC), who in turn is a member of the largest cooperative buying group in the country – Nationwide Marketing Group. That’s how we do it!
From the National Cooperative Business Association:
Definition
A cooperative is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically-controlled enterprise.
Values
Cooperatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
For more than 30 years, Nationwide Marketing Group has helped thousands of independent appliance, electronics and furniture dealers not only compete, but win in today’s competitive marketplace. With over 3,000 members operating some 8,000 store fronts, and $12 billion in combined annual sales, Nationwide Marketing Group is America’s largest buying and marketing organization. The independent dealers who are associated with Nationwide band together to benefit from an array of pricing, programs and services designed to reduce cost and increase sales.
A well known consumer magazine (we all know who I am talking about) states that independents are the best place to shop for appliances and TVs. However, independent retailers face a lot of issues today; increasing costs, increasing competition and shrinking visibility in the face of those national and regional chains advertizing blitz. As a member of the largest cooperative buying group Mrs. G TV & Appliances can buy better, sell smarter and compete tougher.
Customer Service before and after the sale is our #1 priority. Also our selection of appliances in our 20,000 sf showroom is the largest in the area including PA and NJ. No one carries as many manufacturers of appliances as we do. Mrs. G TV & Appliances has the lowest prices around, a huge selection and incredible customer service . Why on earth would you go anywhere else?
And that’s how we do it!
