Are you in the market for a top load washer but do not want the high efficiency/ Energy Star models that use little water? Many new HE washers use much less water to be more efficient and environmentally friendly. I know you want to be green but there are some things that are hard to give up like a full tub of water in your washer and a long and hot shower. Many customers that come in to the store want washers that fill to the top with water, like their old washer, and they find it difficult to switch over to the HE models that don’t fill up nearly as high. Here are 3 washers that have higher water level options and give you very good performance. All three are not Energy Star Models however they all require using HE detergent.

The Speed Queen 3.3 cf Top Load Washer, is an excellent option if your #1 and #2 priority when choosing a new washer is one that fills close to the top with water and able to manual control water levels and temperature. However beware, if you want an Energy Star model, you can not have your cake and it it too. Speed Queen made the decision to design a top load washer that satisfies the needs of its customers instead of achieving an ENERGY STAR rating.  Speed Queen top load washers are designed to properly wash all load types and meet the Department of Energy (DOE) standards for both water consumption and energy usage with the normal eco-cycle. If a consumer wants the option of using higher water levels, a full size agitator, a deep tub rinse OR wants a cycle they can save them more money on energy, they can get the best of both worlds with Speed Queen.

This Maytag Commercial Technology Top Load Washer will also give you more water in the washer tub while you wash your clothes if that is what you desire. The great thing about this washer is that it features the Deep Water Wash option which gives more control over the amount of water used by raising the water level during the Heavy Duty cycle.  Plus, the Deep Rinse option on this high efficiency washer helps eliminate excess detergent and fabric softener to ensure the ultimate clean for every load. Overall, it’s great washer and is a nice option for those who want more control over the amount of water used.

  1. What about the rinse cycle? Will the rinse be as full or will I have to go back to the wash to rinse. Tired of people trying to tell me what i”m allowed to do with my wash!

    • Hello Linda,

My name is Keith from Mrs. G. Thank you for the comment! This blog was written a few years ago. The models reviewed are currently all discontinued. The great news is that the new GE washers have a deep water wash option. When you select deep water wash, you also get a deep water rinse. You will not have to run any additional cycles to get a full rinse.

Thank you again for the feedback. Have a great day!

      Keith
