5 burner 30″ gas cooktops have been around for a few years. There are so many choices now, it’s really hard to pick 3 that are the best. How did I choose? First, based on power. Cooktops are now able to generate at least one burner up to 22,000 BTU power burners compared to rangetops that can have multiple high power burners. See my Blog on Cooktops vs rangetops for more information. I love to sear salmon and stir fry. Power is king.  Here is were it gets tricky. Where do you like the high power burner. Center, left ,right back or front. Now that’s a personal decision. Another important but personal decision is the location of the controls. Do you like front controls or on the side? Here are the best 5 burner 30″ gas cooktops based on power controls and simmer.

Samsung 30″ 5 Burner Cooktop NA30K7750TG

Samsung’s new 30” 5 burner gas cooktop comes either stainless (NA30K7750TS) or the new black stainless finish (NA30K7750TG). The center 22,000BTU True Dual Power burners features two separate heating elements to go from super fast boil down to a fine simmer for chocolates and cream sauces. Unless someone can prove me wrong, this is the highest power burner for a 30” gas cooktop. The cooktop comes with a wok. It also comes with a sleek removable griddle. The grates are cast iron. Of course, because its Samsung, there are some nifty techy features. If you also purchase the Samsung hood, it will sync with the hood as it will turn on when the cooktop is on. And it has WI-Fi connectivity allowing you to monitor your cooktop via your smart phone.

Bosch 30″ 5 Burner Gas Cooktop Benchmark Series NGMP055UC

Bosch cooktops come with centralized front control panels and easy-to-use push-to-turn knobs, with red lights that show which burners are in use. Their models are designed to seamlessly fit into any kitchen, and come with an automatic electronic re-ignition system so you don’t have to worry about your food if a flame goes out. Their 5 burners come with a variety of power: two 5,500 BTU burners, two 10,000 BTU burners, and one central 20,000 BTU burner.

Jenn-Air 30″ 5-Burner Gas Cooktop JGC7530BS

Jenn-Air cooktops also come with burners of varying strength: 19,000 BTU, 12,000 BTU, 9,000 BTU, and 6,000 BTU. Having such a wide variety of burners allows you to do anything from melting butter to achieving a rapid boil, as well as all of your everyday cooking. The flame protection technology makes sure that the burners won’t be hampered, so you can continue creating a wide variety of dishes simultaneously even though they all have different preparation needs. You can install this cooktop over the Jenn-Air oven to create your own kitchen corner powerhouse.

Viking 30″ 5-Burner Gas Cooktop VGSU5305BSS

I usually only give 3 examples for “Best of ” but here I have to add one more. The Viking 5 burner 30″ Cooktop  VGSU5305BSS. For comparison purposes the power burner is on the bottom left at 18,000 BTU and the controls are on the side. There are simmer settings on all burners allows low BTU output for heating delicate sauces.
